14 Children who read extensively learn to write, articulate, and
problem-solve successfully. Good readers are good thinkers. But what are our children thinking? Unfortunately, the trade book market is swamped with popular themes that are the antithesis of traditional family values. Misguided publishers have used provocative topics to encourage reading. Encouraging reading is an excellent goal, but encouraging middle school readers to read inappropriate themes is laying the foundation for a weak moral structure.

WHAT IS AN EDUCATOR TO DO?

Mosdos Press offers the alternative. We have anthologized three paperback short story trade books for the middle school reader, the first of which will be available in May 2008. An Educator's Guide is available for each. Our experience with middle school and high school literature anthology textbooks has honed our skill at anthologizing quality, secular, contemporary and classic, very readable short fiction, framing them with an academically excellent curriculum. It is this experience that we bring to our trade book publications. Mosdos Press has taken the worry and concern out of the selection process. Parents and educators can rest assured that when a young reader picks up a book from the Mosdos Press Fiction Collection, they will be transported into a world of literature framed by traditional values. Children will learn the beauty of language and experience the joys of fine literature without compromising traditional principles.
